The Hurricane Project
In 1838, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Great Western Railway shocked with the experimental broad-gauge locomotive Hurricane, boasting the largest driving wheel ever built — 10 feet in diameter. Though short-lived in service, the Hurricane remains one of the boldest icons of railway innovation.
For the very first time, we aim to bring this extraordinary machine to life in 00 gauge. This is a unique project, full of character, designed to add a striking centerpiece to any model railway. The Hurricane can be paired beautifully with a variety of pioneering-era carriages and wagons recently released by other manufacturers, making it the perfect addition for early railway layouts.
Although the original was a broad-gauge prototype, our model will be produced in standard 00 gauge, so that every collector and enthusiast can enjoy it.
To move forward, we need 1,500 enthusiasts to join our waitlist. Once that milestone is reached, the project will enter the next phase at a target price of £195. At that stage, we will invite advance payments to fund production. This price will get you an 00 gauge model with the following characteristics:
- Die-cast metal and injection moulded plastic construction
- Next18 decoder socket
- Factory-fitted sound decoder
- NEM coupler pocket
When we reach 1,000 confirmed pre-orders, production will begin. Rest assured, any supporter can request a full refund at any time during the process — your commitment is safe.
Join us in making history and help bring the legendary Hurricane to life in miniature.
