War Time Dean Goods Project

During the World Wars, many Dean Goods 0-6-0 locomotives were pressed into service overseas — the Railway Operating Division, War Department, and allied forces moved them to France and beyond. Some were modified with pannier tanks or condensing gear to suit wartime conditions. This project will produce them in muted khaki, olive green, and grey liveries often used for camouflage and military purposes.

For the first time, we plan to bring one of these heritage beasts into miniature: a War Time Dean Goods model, faithful to its continental war‐service version.

When it reaches production, this project will deliver:

  • A scale 00 version of the Dean Goods, modified as per wartime continental service
  • Painted in standard khaki, green, or grey
  • Standard model features: die-cast metal & plastic parts, NEM coupler pocket, lighting/decoder options

We need 1,500 enthusiasts on the waitlist to kick things off. Once we hit that mark, we’ll set a target price (estimated ~£190), invite advance commitments, and begin prototype work.

You’ll get full renders, color previews, and detail options before production, and you’re free to pull out (with refund) at any stage.
